Color-and-Weave Towels
Soft color-and-weave towels in two contrasting shades of Blue. Order a kit.
I love the way these towels turned out! This was my first weave from a pattern and it was so easy to understand. Perfect way to use the yarn from my mallow mystery box. Thankyou so much for the wonderful design.
Great pattern for a beginner (me!) I can understand both the warping AND weaving sequence - Thank you for a beautiful pattern!
My Mallo yarn is perfect for incredibly soft towels.
Thank you Gist for your products and service to the weaving community.
Thank you for this pattern. I used it on my new 8-harness floor loom for my first project, after a year of working on a rigid heddle loom. It is interesting and fun to weave, and results in a very nice tea towel. I used 8/2 cotton from Gist , which I think resulted in a finer and more finished tea towel than my previous ones, woven in heavier cotton. I did the tie up on my loom so making it possible (really am just learning, after all) to experiment with twill or otherwise deviate from the pattern. I did indeed. I learned that the twill is cool, but doesn't make such a soft and absorbent material, so going back to the pattern, I experimented with using different colors. It all came out great! I love this pattern and just received another order from Gist for more 8/2, this time going for completely different colorways of charcoal grey, off-white, sparked with lime and gold. The last set I did with orange and gold, and then half of the towels did the weft with burgundy and gold, and while it sounds weird, they look really fabulous.
As a new weaver the warping/pattern was a challenge for me, but the result was a success!! I used Eclipse and Steel Mallo to match my daughter’s NYC monochrome apartment. And she’s polite enough to not point out the floats! Love working with Gist! Always helpful and quick to ship or answer questions.
