Summer and Winter Towels

Designed by Sarah Resnick

Summer and Winter is an ideal technique to play with color gradations. This structure uses Mallo for both tabby and pattern weft to create a soft transition from yellow to green to blue. These vibrant towels are reminiscent of watercolor sketches, and appear as if they were woven with hand-dyed yarn. Order a kit.

Incredibly forgiving pattern/yarn!

I wove these a bit smaller to make napkins! It's an incredibly forgiving pattern... I found errors I had made in threading AND occasional errors in treadling sequence (my fault, not the pattern) as I went along and they still turned out lovely. Small floats/pattern variations really weren't noticable after washing due to the thick/thin nature of the yarn.

If I were gonna change anything, I'd weave the hem with a finer yarn to make a less bulky hem. But otherwise all good, and I'll def make them again!

Summer and Winter towels

This was my first weaving project on my first floor loom! Woo hoo! I found the directions clear and easy to follow. I loved seeing the colors mingle together as I wove. I am so happy with these towels!

Summer and Winter Towels

Fun weave. The towels are very soft and absorbent right off the loom. They wash easily in the washer and do not wrinkle after being fully dried in the dryer. So, no ironing! The mallo yarn is very nice to weave with and the towel feels heavier in weight which I like when I am using it. I chose the colorway of Natural, Spice, and Fir as all colors go well with my kitchen floor.

Easy pattern and weave.

These towels wove up very easily. The pattern is easy to follow and mallo yarn works nicely

Love love Gist yarns and patterns!

Patterns are easy to follow. My favorite thing is their linen yarn! First time weaving with linen and had no issues. From what my fellow weavers say that is unusual not to have broken threads.
