Three Column Lace Scarf
Designed by Christine Jablonski
This cozy monochromatic scarf is woven with just one cone of our Ode alpaca yarn, featuring a reversible warp and weft float lace pattern. After setting up the loom, two pick-up sticks are introduced using a technique that allows each stick to slide past the other along the warp for quick and efficient weaving. Order a kit.
Be very careful in measuring your warp length with this pattern. I allowed an extra 4 inches for warp and I ran out of yarn for weft with about 6 inches of scarf length remaining. I thought I had 50 yards extra but I did not.
Pattern was easy to follow. Using two pickup sticks was not hard given the weaving set up. I finished one scarf and will probably weave this pattern again.
What a lovely, satisfying pattern! I’ve made two scarves, using a cotton silk yarn, great drape! Both recipients loved them.
Once I got the hang of the sequence, it was a breeze to weave. And it's a beautiful pattern, different on each side. Of course, Ode alpaca makes it super soft and cozy.
