Perfect for an intro

This pattern is fantastic for use in my introduction to rigid heddle weaving class. It’s simple but teaches hemstitch, gives yards of practice throwing the shuttle and the scarf is lovely. By using cotton the novice also witnesses the transformation wet finishing makes.i have students share their cones of Mallo so the can add warp stripes.

I haven’t woven this yet but I’m sure it’s written well and understandable. Thank you

The Angle of Beauty

Wonderful yarn! My Grand-daughter 13, was visiting and wanted to weave so we did a fast warp on RH loom and she choice her threads for a small wall hanging for her room. The most used thread was Gist Duet Current, sometimes doubled or used with a different thread/texture. Regardless of how the thread was used it was visible and the play of light changed with the angle of the weaving. Day 2 she took it home! A great yarn for color, texture and versatility! (She left me a bit.)

Mallo scarf

OK, I made this scarf. I’m still a new weaver and haven’t graduated to anything beyond plain weave, so it’s wonderful to use the Mallo, which gives the look of something extra special with the texture. Tuned out to be about 11” wide and 75” long. This yarn is very easy to work with, wonderful results, I think. I followed the pattern and like the feel of this scarf and the look. I have a cone of Natural which I will do next. Both scarves are for my granddaughters for Christmas. If you are a beginner weaver, Mallo is really the yarn for you if you want ease of handling and super special results. Haven’t blocked it yet. I’ll wait and do both at the same time.
