You can now experience the third installment of the 2025 Rigid Heddle Skill Builder series as a stand-alone purchase! Explore Pick-up Stick Lace through a series of three projects, designed by Deborah Jarchow, that build your confidence and expertise at your rigid heddle loom. This collection includes instructions for three projects: a set of napkins, a runner, and placemats.
This collection was originally published as a part of our Rigid Heddle Skill Builder Subscription Box series. Please note, this listing is for the Pick-up Stick Lace collection only—if you'd like to learn more about the subscription, you can do so here.
This collection contains three pattern PDFs with extensive directions, charts, process photos, and all of the yarn needed to weave each project. The projects included are as follows:
You will need a rigid heddle loom with a 20" weaving width, one 10-dent reed, and four pick-up sticks.
The first project requires almost 20" of weaving width, and modifying it would result in very small napkins. The other two projects require a 15" weaving width (or just over), so would work on a 16" loom. We don't recommend warping to the very ends of the reeds, so you could modify the width for a 15" loom by removing a few warp ends. We do not provide modifications, but have general instructions for resizing patterns here.
No, we’ve carefully planned our inventory for the year and cannot accommodate other colorway options.
No, these patterns are only available as a part of the full kit purchase.
This collection is intended for weavers with a few projects under their belt and comfortable using different weights of yarn in the warp and weft. Experience with pick-up sticks is helpful but not necessary.
