Breaking Waves Scarf

Designed by Christine Tsai, adapted and woven by Christine Jablonski.

Adapted to two colors from the 2024 Weave Quarterly Land, Sea & Sky collection, this extended point twill and repeated shafts creates undulating curves in this soft and cozy scarf. A variation in the treadling helps create a more stable fabric while also amplifying the curves in the pattern, simulating the movement of the ocean currents. Luminous Sero Silk Noil creates iridescent sparkle throughout the scarf, reminiscent of swimming schools of fish, sunlight reflecting off the surface of the water, or whitecaps of breaking waves. Love the design, yarn is tough

I am finding working with the Sero silk is difficult. It was very grabby during the warping process. And while I love the design—I’m using wisteria for the weft and lupine for the warp—keeping track of it is not easy. I am looking forward to the finished product which I plan to keep for myself instead of giving it away. I am worth it.
I also love the idea of using the weft color for the selvedge threads!
