Array is our 2/12 worsted spun wool yarn. Made from wool grown on ranches out West (primarily Corriedale and Columbia sheep), and spun and dyed in North Carolina. It is 2-ply, thin (3,360 yards per lb), and hardy.
I've been buying quite a few of the 2 oz cones for a small tapestry of a sunset over the waves on the beach, and I'm excited to work with the colors I'll be able to get when blending. I haven't done a cartoon yet, so I'll have to see how much detail I can wrangle into it, but I'll have a great palette to work with, for sure! I've used three threads before and had all three just slightly different. It gives so many options; great for sand or water and sky.
Just finished my first little tapestry. Enjoyed working with the variety of color choices your company provides.
I’m new to tapestry weaving but after throughly researching the subject I decided to invest in a large stash of Array yarns. It was just too hard to decide what not to buy, so I went a little crazy and boy am I glad thatI did! They work beautifully with my new Mirrix Big Sister loom. I’m in heaven!
I am a beginning tapestry Weaver. This is my first effort with Gist array yarn. Loving it! Now I understand what everyone was talking about.
I wanted to make something based off of Jennifer Moore's Double Weave book. For all the patterns, she suggests mercerized cotton likely to prevent sticky threads in the dense fabric. However, my partner and I were in love with the colors of Array, and I wanted 12 colors that worked well together. So I went for it despite my fears of sticky threads and wondering if I should really use a 'tapestry' yarn for warp on my 8 shaft loom (despite what the product description said). I can't say enough about how amazing it was to work with this yarn, no sticky threads, no broken warp threads, just pure dreamy wool. I will definitely use this yarn again soon!
