Turned Taqueté Towels

Designed by Madison Potter

Turned Taqueté (also called jin) is an approachable and beginner-friendly weaving technique that ‘turns’ the traditional weft-faced Taqueté structure so that it becomes warp-faced. By shifting the visual dominance from the weft to the warp, this technique allows for complex, graphic patterns to appear while using very simple threading. As Turned Taqueté is typically woven with a single weft yarn, it is fast and efficient to weave with just one shuttle. In these towels, two colors interact across the pattern blocks to create three distinct pattern variations, demonstrating how dramatically color placement in the warp and weft influences the final design.
