Seed Pod Towels

Designed by Amanda Rataj, adapted and woven by Christine Jablonski.

Originally part of the Weave Quarterly Halftones Collection and updated with Beam 8/2 Organic Cotton, this pair of towels groups circular pods together to create a surface with plenty of texture, and a short pattern repeat makes threading and treadling these towels very simple. Unlike traditional Overshot, which uses a light-colored warp and darker weft, these towels reverse that for a bold contrast. Each towel has a light and dark side — hem to your preference!  Order a kit.

Thick or thin

Loved weaving the pattern. I used a blue warp with two different weights of weft. One is thick, the second is a softer towel but loved both end products. Not sure my 'pattern' mirrored the pictured pattern but don't care. Love the towels. Good instructions too.

Not a short repeat!

Maybe its just me, but I count 52 picks in the repeat. I found the pedaling difficult to keep track of and to find my place when I had to inevitably back up when my concentration was interrupted. That being said, these are soft, attractive towels, despite having gotten off pattern on the first one. I probably will not repeat this pattern.

Seed pod towels

I have really enjoyed weaving this pattern which is fairly simple but very effective.I have done 3 in greens and am moving on to blue combinations.
