Running Stitch Towels
A set of cotton and linen towels woven with a casually elegant color-and-weave motif, reminiscent of hand-stitched or quilted fabrics. Order a kit.
Brand new to weaving. This pattern is so easy to follow
I loved doing this pattern. It was easy to follow. I used Marble and Dusk (Duet) for my colors. I used the same warp and reversed colors for the weft in one of my towels. I liked the way that turned out, too. I plan to try this pattern for inspiration for other items, including scarves.
Had a little trouble, but Christine followed up and worked through details for me and I was able to complete my towels successfully.
I enjoyed this project. I used 8/2 cotton in ecru and black and they were striking.
Like others have mentioned the directions are for some reason hard to follow (though I'm a very experienced weaver). I tried to rewrite but also came up short. I good diagram would be great. That said this is a wonderful, interesting two harness pattern with very little concentration necessary. The towels are relatively loosely woven and one must be careful to keep a consistent beat to match the warp set-12 epi/ppi. The look is rustic and wonderful, but bring your ruler. I used Duet Marble and Dusk and they turned out beautifully. As explained in the instructions I can now rewarp and get two more towels in the opposite color way. I'm looking forward to seeing how those turn out. This is my first Gist pattern, and I look forward to many more!
