Plain weave is anything but plain when woven in Mallo. The thick-and-thin nature of this cotton slub creates an elegant, delicate texture, even in the simplest of weaves. Slightly thicker than many weaving yarns, Mallo weaves up quickly on both rigid heddle and multi-shaft looms. Sturdy, soft, and absorbent, Mallo is perfect for towels, napkins, and washcloths as well as lightweight blankets, scarves, and shawls.
This is a review for an extra cone I purchased to complete the GIST bath mat EXTRA mat. I made the mat on a 8-shaft jack loom because I don’t have a rigid heddle wide enough. Worked wonderfully. Love it.
I've used Malo now in three projects. It is easy to weave and works great as warp and weft. My issue is that it is not soft. The Textured Cotton Scarf pattern done is Malo is not really soft enough to enjoy. The Color and Weave Lace scarf pattern (Liz Gipson pattern) is gorgeous but, again, almost too scratchy to enjoy wearing. It would be perfect for table linens or maybe towels.
I deeply appreciate gist yarn. It is always a quality material that I can trust when weaving. thank you!
