Lakeview Placemats

 Designed by Kristina Nichols

Inspired by the ripples, reflections and movements of the water, these placemats evoke images of the waves in a lake. This 4-shaft project takes the pattern line of an undulating twill and turns it into a Shadow Weave to give the visual effect of depth in each of the ripples. Perfectly paired, the Inkwell and Dawn colorway is reminiscent of summer lake views, but the design is equally stunning in other colorways with high value contrast.  Order a kit.

Great Placemats

Loved this pattern. It was easy to follow and fun to weave. I love how they look on my table even though I made a threading error. Next time I’ll use more contrasting threads so that the pattern stands out better.

Ripples

After over 25 yrs. of not weaving, I'm relearning everything. I loved this pattern so much I did it twice--first with a royal blue and light gray combo which was okay but then with a melon and silver (bamboo) combo that was wonderful. Thanks for providing such a fun design.

These look amazing!

I wove these out of yarn I had in my stash. I used Astra 5/2 Pearl Cotton at the proper set, colors Nassau blue and Deep Turquoise. This was my first experience with shadow weave and I'm so amazed at how 3 dimensional looking they turned out. Gist Yarn has such amazing patterns and yarn, and they are prompt and so pleasant to deal with!

Refreshing Modern Look

The Lakeview placemat draft succeeds in leading your mind to thoughts of rippling water. I used Beam Moss tone and Off-white from my stash. The 3/2 yarn makes a speedy wind, beam and voila! Placemats! I added some yardage to make an additional longer center table mat. I was NOT able to meet the stated PPI or 5 pattern repeats even with a heavy beat on my Louet Jane 8 shaft, so I simply wove 18.3 inches for each mat. Beam is easy to work with and the placemats have a comfy durable hand.
