Cozy Alpaca Poncho
Designed by Andrea Carpenter, adapted and woven by Christine Jablonski.
A simple poncho woven with Ode Alpaca and constructed with minimal sewing. Pattern downloads include files for both rigid heddle and shaft loom weaving.
Yardage requirements vary based upon the loom waste. Order a kit.
Equipment
- Rigid heddle loom or 4-shaft loom
- 42 heddles per shaft for shaft loom
- 10-dent reed
- 1 boat shuttle + 2 bobbins or 2 stick shuttles
- Fringe twister
- Sewing machine (optional)

Warp: Ode Alpaca, 495-525 yds Fawn, 250-265 yds Cream.Weft: Ode Alpaca, 555 yds Fawn, 65 yds Cream.

I haven’t made it as I am home with knee surgery but the yarn is beautiful and the colors are just superb. Very happy with it.

I am busy making this Poncho. As a fairly new rigid heddle loom weaver, I love what this looked like and wanted to give it a try. The pattern is easy to understand, and although I am not done yet with my Poncho I am already in love with it! Thank you for sharing your knowledge

Ode yarn is so soft and supple, it's a pleasure to work with. I forgot to take a proper photo before I shipped it off to my granddaughter, but here's a pic of it just off the loom. I will make another, full sized poncho. Easy pattern, perfect for me, a newbie weaver.
