Beam is a foundational yarn—perfect for beginners learning to weave on a rigid heddle loom, but experienced weavers will also find it delightful for twills and color work on a multi-shaft loom. Beam’s bright, cheerful colors make it a natural choice for baby blankets, kitchen towels, placemats, napkins and runners. Soft but strong, this yarn was designed for making functional cloth you reach for every day.
I am not normally a fan of greens. With that said, this Pistachio makes a lovely accent color. I used just a few threads through my towels for an unexpected pop of color. It worked well with the blues, purples, and pinks that I was using. Beam is a very easy yarn to weave. I have ever only found one tiny know in all of the cones that I have used. The knot is so tiny that I just ignored it. My towels came out beautifully. The knot is practically unnoticeable and the towels are wonderful to use. The beam really absorbs water. I was a beginner (used on my second project) when I began using beam. It is now one of my go-to choices and makes up most of my stash.
Great weight for weaving as it is heavy enough to hold structure yet soft enough for baby blanket. After a wash it felt very soft. Next time I’m going to do a short fringe which was very fluffy. I had planned to hem so didn’t leave enough.
Beautiful color, weaves wonderfully
My towels are turning out lovey and the fibers are fabulous. Because I’m a new weaver, I called the store and she answered a few questions about my pattern. I really appreciate all the service.
I have been using Beam 3/2 for making dish towels as gifts. It weaves up quickly and is a great weight for a kitchen towel. The colors are lovely!!
