I've been excited to get my Beam stash since last summer and when it finally arrived, I decided to try using it for a couple of garments. I made a short-sleeved jacket and a clasped weft T-top. I'm very pleased with the results. Beam is beautiful, soft and lustrous. It is a heavier yarn but I was excited at how nicely the textures showed through in these plain weave pieces. The natural (undyed) color is particularly soft and worked well for the top. I'm pleased to see that Gist is offering more cool tone colors to the palette. I look forward to using Beam again in the near future.
I almost don't even want to write this review because I don't want everyone else finding out how good this yarn is and buying all of it up! :) Beam is absolutely fantastic. I've been weaving for many years, and it is unquestionably the best yarn I've ever used. It has a lovely sheen, which I didn't expect because it's unmercerized. It feels absolutely delightful and it makes a gorgeous fabric. Ten stars!
I never write reviews, but I want to shout from the rooftops how much I love Beam. I'm fairly new to weaving, but read that it would be a forgiving yarn to practice with. I used Natural Beam, Hibiscus Beam, Dandelion Beam, Lemon Beam, Fir Mallo, and Cobalt Beam to achieve this fun rainbow stripe. My pic definitely doesn't do the colors justice - they are very vivid in person. Really looking forward to more projects with Beam in the future.
