I’m a weaver and weaving instructor. Since I’ve discovered Gist yarn I use it primarily in my weaving and my teaching. I recommend it to all my students and they love it as well. Doesn’t get better than Gist for your weaving needs!!!
I love Gist yarn, but I ordered this yarn to weave dish towels with two other 3/2 yarns. It was the right color, but was quite a bit thinner than the other $/2 yarns, so I had to double it in the warp. I had enough to finish the project, but it was distressing that the weight of the yarn was wrong!
This yarn is so lovely to weave with!
This yarn is lovely for warp and weft on a rigid heddle loom. I bought an assortment of colors and they are more vibrant in person than they appear on my screen. I will buy more, and save it for special projects. At $56 a pound it costs as much as pure silk.
II wove the Color -and- Weave placemats designed by Christine Jablonski.
This was my first time using Gist Beam yarn. It was very easy to work with in terms of warping and weaving.
I was extremely impressed how the placemats filled out after washing, just the feel of the yarn.
I would certainly recommend this yarn for its ease of use and the finished feeling appearance.
