We know rigid heddle weavers have an insatiable curiosity for learning new techniques. Building upon the success of the Weave Quarterly Rigid Heddle subscription, we developed the Rigid Heddle Skill Builder Subscription Box, a series designed to build your confidence and expertise on your rigid heddle loom.
Each quarter, a new designer will present three projects exploring a technique or theme in depth, all delivered in one shipment. Over the course of a year you will receive 12 projects in 4 shipments from 4 designers.
SUBSCRIBE TODAYCarly Jayne has designed the second box (projects shown above) around two-heddle weaving, exploring unique structures and textures that push the boundaries of what is often considered possible on a rigid heddle loom.
Remaining Skill Builder boxes for 2025 will cover Tufts & Textures, Pick-up Stick Lace, and Log Cabin.
SUBSCRIBE TODAYCarly Jayne is a passionate advocate for the undiscovered versatility of the rigid heddle loom. Her focus is designing rigid heddle weaves that are a bit spicier than your standard fare, yet still allow the colors and textures of the fibers to take center stage. She loves dogs and martinis.
SUBSCRIBE TODAYA 24-25” rigid heddle loom, 10 and 12-12.5 dent heddles, 2-3 pick-up sticks, and stick shuttles or boat shuttles and bobbins. One of the boxes will require a loom that can accommodate 2 heddles (most Ashford and Schacht Flip looms do, please contact us if you are unsure) and an extra set of heddles–see our Doubleweave bundle.
Before joining this subscription, you should: have a few projects under your belt, be able to warp with multiple colors, use pick-up sticks, and use two heddles.
We designed this new subscription to deliver even more value and a deeper learning experience for rigid heddle weavers.
You’ll receive the yarn and patterns for three projects inside every box, each diving deep into one technique so you can truly learn its ins and outs. Additionally, we’ve heard from so many of you that you would love a space to connect with other subscribers — so we’re adding a Facebook group where you can connect with others working on the same projects & join us for quarterly live Q&As with each designer
Please reach out to hello@gistyarn.com and we'll help you out.
