We know rigid heddle weavers have an insatiable curiosity for learning new techniques. Building upon the success of the Weave Quarterly Rigid Heddle subscription, we developed the Rigid Heddle Skill Builder Subscription Box, a series designed to build your confidence and expertise on your rigid heddle loom.

Each quarter, a new designer will present three projects exploring a technique or theme in depth, all delivered in one shipment. Over the course of a year you will receive 12 projects in 4 shipments from 4 designers. 

Tammy Bast has designed the first box of 2026. Sliding Sticks will walk you through three pick-up stick projects (a table runner, scarf, and set of napkins) that create beautiful and intricate designs usually woven on shaft looms. The magic here is that all of the sticks slide past each other (even the 4-stick project), so that once you set up your stick pattern, you don’t need to remove or replace them while weaving. This collection is a natural evolution of Box 3, featuring Huck and Swedish Lace projects. While previous pick-up stick experience is helpful, it is not necessary. 

Each box/quarter will include:

• Three patterns, each detailed with extensive step-by-step instructions and process photos
• Enough yarn to weave all three projects (Gist in-house lines: Array, Beam, Duet, Mallo, Ode, Sero, Dwella)
• Access to an exclusive Facebook group so you can connect with other weavers working on the projects 
• Facebook Live Q&A with designers once per quarter

Tammy Bast is a self-taught weaver, designer, and teacher based in Nova Scotia. She is the creator behind The Rogue Weaver, where she shares patterns, workshops, and resources with the goal of making weavers’ lives easier. Tammy is passionate about showing just how much the rigid heddle loom can do, helping weavers explore techniques and build confidence without needing complex equipment. When she’s not at the loom, Tammy can often be found hiking Nova Scotia’s trails — and even doing a bit of strength training so she can “weave forever.”
