We know rigid heddle weavers have an insatiable curiosity for learning new techniques. Building upon the success of the Weave Quarterly Rigid Heddle subscription, we're thrilled to introduce the Rigid Heddle Skill Builder Subscription Box, a new series designed to build your confidence and expertise on your rigid heddle loom.
Each quarter, a new designer will present three projects exploring a technique or theme in depth, all delivered in one shipment. Over the course of a year you will receive 12 projects in 4 shipments from 4 designers.
We have a limited number of spots available and will close the subscription on 3/31/25 (sooner if we sell out).
SUBSCRIBE TODAYDana Lutz has designed the first box (projects & yarn shown above) around hand-manipulated lace techniques that create stunning, heirloom-worthy projects.
In 2025, the Rigid Heddle Skill Builder Box will cover the following topics: Hand-Manipulated Lace, Corduroy Weave, Pick-up Stick Lace, and Log Cabin.
SUBSCRIBE TODAYDana Lutz is a weaver and textile artist living in South Florida. Her work aims to reinterpret traditional weaving techniques, transforming them into contemporary functional textiles and artistic expressions. In a world forcing us to move faster, she loves to rebel and embrace the slow and deliberate pace of the weaving process.
Dana has always been artistic, but does not have any formal training in art or textiles. She discovered weaving by accident during a trip to Peru, where she saw women weaving and became instantly fascinated with the process. Upon returning, she bought a loom and figured it out. She has come to believe that this hidden talent is somewhere in her DNA.
Dana is a multi-passionate creative with a lot of other interests in addition to weaving — some fiber related, some not. Follow her on Instagram as she shares her weaving process to help others gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the art of weaving.
SUBSCRIBE TODAYA 24-25” rigid heddle loom, 10 and 12-12.5 dent heddles, 2-3 pick-up sticks, and stick shuttles or boat shuttles and bobbins. One of the boxes will require a loom that can accommodate 2 heddles (most Ashford and Schacht Flip looms do, please contact us if you are unsure) and an extra set of heddles–see our Doubleweave bundle.
Before joining this subscription, you should: have a few projects under your belt, be able to warp with multiple colors, use pick-up sticks, and use two heddles.
We designed this new subscription to deliver even more value and a deeper learning experience for rigid heddle weavers.
You’ll receive the yarn and patterns for three projects inside every box, each diving deep into one technique so you can truly learn its ins and outs. Additionally, we’ve heard from so many of you that you would love a space to connect with other subscribers — so we’re adding a Facebook group where you can connect with others working on the same projects & join us for quarterly live Q&As with each designer
Please reach out to hello@gistyarn.com and we'll help you out.
