Episode 20: Weaving With Paper Yarn with Linda Thalmann of Paperphine
Today on the podcast, an episode I've been looking forward to for a long time! I'm talking with Linda Thalmann, the founder of Paperphine. Linda is a textile artist in Vienna, Austria who makes paper yarn for weavers and other artists all over the world. I carry Paperphine yarn in my shop and it’s probably the yarn I get the most questions about….people are intrigued about it, and often a little nervous about how to use it. So in this episode Linda takes out all of the mystery of paper yarn, with lots of ideas for you to conquer your fears and start weaving with paper.
Some paper yarn artists Linda mentioned:
- Dutch Textile Designer Marian de Graaf
- Finnish Artist and Designer Ritva Puotila
- Textile artist Agnieszka „Uisce“ Jakubczyk
- Master Shifu Weaver Sadako Sakurai
- The company Nuno, which makes amazing fabric including paper weaving
