I would do 20epi

I just cut off and wet finished my baby blanket project for a friend.. its beautiful! I changed the pattern slightly to fit my needs (weft wise looks, not the plain weave itself) but even with 1 per dent after every 4 doubled (10 dent reed) to achieve the 18epi recommended by the pattern, it left noticable warp spacing lines, even after shrinking almost 4in! I would do 20epi personally if you have a 10 dent reed, 16epi would be too loose based on the slightest gap where my single threads were.

I bought the kit and used the 8/2 cotton recommended. Its very soft and light!

I haven't used cotton for a plain weave yet so I am very pleased with the results overall. Excited to finish this up and hem. Thank you for the inspiration! Would probably do again in the future, very beautiful classic pattern that I would like to play around with more.

What I was looking for.

I wanted to weave a baby blanket that wasn’t wider than my loom. This pattern was the right size. I also wanted to weave the blanket using 8/2 cotton which is the yarn that I have the most colours. There are so many possibilities with colour combinations with this pattern.

Great project

I wanted something simple and fun for my niece's new baby. This absolutely fit the bill. It went quickly but had enough going on to keep my interest and to produce a pretty piece. I'd do it again. I kind of wished I'd warped for two! (Sorry for the poor quality of the photograph. It turned out better than this suggests.)

Perfect gift for a new baby

I have woven this blanket three times now. It is a lovely, lightweight blanket perfect for a newborn in the small size. If I do it again I will probably weave the larger blanket. The small is good for a newborn, but will quickly become a stroller or car seat size blanket before long. I love this particular color combination for a boy (blue and yellowish). It is a fast and easy weave for such a beautiful outcome.
