Christmas scarves

I absolutely love this yarn. I have reviewed it before, but came back to post photos of the latest scarves that I have made — cream for me, and the others for Christmas gifts.

Each color is itself so rich and subtly varied that they shine most as single colors (based on a lot of sampling). I find it works beautifully with pickup stick patterns on my rigid heddle loom. All of my scarves have various warp and weft floats; some are identical on each side and some have two different but equally attractive sides.

I think this yarn would make a fantastic big wrap, and I will probably use all the odds and ends to make a patchwork-style blanket.

Wonderful to work with Ode Alpaca

Love the Ode Alpaca. Very strong for the warp, and easy to work with as the weft. Results are stunning!!

Intriguing Yarn

Having made one scarf in Cream Ode, I purchased four more cones in different colors: straw, moss, basil and agate. I then made many swatches using 2–4 colors and a variety of color-and-weave and pickup stick patterns.

The result was that I found the colors more effective on their own than mixed. Each color is beautifully heathered, but that quality seems to recede when contrasting colors are introduced, and the result was muddy. At least, that was what I thought with these particular colors.

So I am going to make single-color scarves as Christmas gifts. using both warp and weft floats, which creates depth (and therefore warmth) and a light-and-shadow effect that creates all sorts of subtle color variation from a single shade of this gorgeous alpaca.

Never received my order

I would have loved to have received this. Was told to reorder it since it wasn’t their problem that it was not delivered. I will shop somewhere else who uses UPS instead of the USPS for delivery.

Hi Sharon,

We are very sorry you didn't receive your yarn. We shipped it to the address you entered at checkout, which included an incorrect zip code. Your post office corrected the zip code and delivered the package. Once it is marked delivered, there is nothing we can do unless you contact the post office and declare it lost.
