Mallo Clay Saves the Day!

It finally happened...I met my first project that refused to cooperate, from warping to hem stitching! I found some lovely cotton yarn at a weaving booth at a recent fiber fest, convinced I’d landed on a great deal — 4 cones for $10! There was a reason. The yarn’s bumpy texture refused to slide through the slots of my RHL. It laughed at my efforts to get it to go through the holes! Since I’d warped with some lovely Mallo Fir, I was very hesitant to just scrap the whole warp. Plus, I really wanted to do some log cabinning! So, out came the “good deal” yarn and in went an order for some Mallo Clay. Except for one broken Fir warp thread (thanks to the bad yarn), I had no problem working with these two Mallos. Here’s a picture of the finished pieces—my second Log Cabin and my first Brooks Bouquet. Thanks, Gist! :)

Mallo slubs are lovely

I wanted to weave tea towels on my rigid heddle 8 dent and decided to test these Mallo cotton slub threads. I have them on both warp and weft. The weave is slightly open and I expect the yarn will bloom beautifully. The colors I bought work nicely together. Can’t wait to order more!

Soft and textured

I wove a baby blanket for our first grandchild with Mallo yarn for both warp and weft. Plain weave allowed all characteristics of the yarn to shine. And so very soft. Love this yarn. Even as a novice weaver.
