I have Gist's Mallo cotton slub in several colors, used as weft on my 15" rigid heddle (10 dent) loom. Great irregular texture; lovely color and great tensile strength. In my last project-- a shawl -- I also used Mallo cotton slub, with other cotton, for the warp.
This is one of my favorite yarns to weave with. It has a wonderful irregular texture to it that is perfect for those projects where a nubby feel is what you’re aiming at. It washes well, and has been very durable in the projects I’ve used it in (kitchen towels, nubby details in cotton shawls.
I have several colors of the Mallo Cotton Slub yarn and love them all, using them as warp and/or weft on my Rigid Heddle (10 dent) loom which gives an open fluid weave, perfect for summer scarves or shawls.
Love the feel of this yarn. About to use it as weft for a baby blanket and an 8/2 cotton warp.
