Overshot Rigid Heddle Towels
A set of cotton and linen towels woven using a pick-up stick and a supplementary weft to create weft floats. Order a kit.
These towels are quickly becoming my favorite to weave. They look technical but are extremely easy to weave. The pattern sequence is very easy to remember even for my old mind. I will be gifting these in all different color combinations.
Thank you for this wonderful pattern.
I absolutely love these towels and working with Mallo yarns. I’ve woven 12 towels and plan to gift 9 of them to my fellow stitchers. Our stitch group meets every two weeks and I plan to wrap them up for our 2021 Christmas exchange. I am the only weaver in our group so the ladies like to receive a handwoven gift. Who wouldn’t?
Thanks for this great easy to understand pattern!
I am new to weaving and am using a 32” Flip Ridged Heddle Loom. Being new at weaving I look for patterns that are specific and easy to understand and that give me room to expand my craft. I found this pattern had all the elements I need to move me forward in my weaving experience.
This pattern looks far more complex than it really is! This was my first attempt at using a pick-up stick, and the pattern repeat is so simple that it became second nature. I got 4 full-sized towels and one smaller one from the recommended warp. I'm saving the 4 bigger ones for gifts, but have been using the small one. It is very absorbent and super good looking! I made some mistakes, mostly in how I handled color changes. If that had been included in the video weave-along that accompanies this pattern, it would have helped me. I was afraid the using the normal strategy of weaving in while weaving would compromise the pattern, so not sure on that. I'll do it different on my next batch. I do wish the new web site showed additional recommended color choices, as I'm terrible with selecting good color combos.
