Duet Cotton / Linen Weaving Yarn ~ Santorini
$ 23.00 USD
Duet - GIST's first line of weaving yarn. Santorini is a bold, cobalt blue.
2 slubby plies of US grown cotton + 1 ply of European tow linen. A beautiful, textured yarn designed especially for weavers. Strong enough for warp, soft enough to wear next to skin, and hardy enough for kitchen towels. Truly a versatile yarn that we hope will become a beloved staple on your loom for many kinds of projects. Comes on ¼ lb. (4 oz) cones with 600 yards per cone.
55% linen / 45% cotton. 2,390 ypp. Suitable for warp and weft, on rigid heddle, table, and floor looms. Recommended sett of 12-16 epi. Machine wash on cool. Air dry or machine dry (air drying preserves the life of linen longer). Linen gets a softer and lovelier hand with each washing.
Spun and dyed in North Carolina.
Yarn is strong, yet not bulky. Still working on best use and heddle size that would work best.
This yarn is wonderful. I am weaving waffle weave washcloths with it. It warps like a dream. I also love that I haven't had one not in any of my cones. Knots aren't a big deal, but I certainly don't miss them if I don't have them. :)
I am very pleased in my dealings with GIST.
I wove one scarf with the Storm duet and it was so beautiful I bought the Pear so I could weave another scarf. This fiber is easy to warp and weave on an Ashford SampleIt loom.
I’ve only had great experiences shopping with gist and getting weaving patterns to help me learn new techniques! The alpaca wool I last used is incredibly soft and fun to work it! Wanting to weave another scarf already!
