Duet Cotton / Linen Weaving Yarn ~ Santorini
$ 23.00 USD
Duet - GIST's first line of weaving yarn. Santorini is a bold, cobalt blue.
2 slubby plies of US grown cotton + 1 ply of European tow linen. A beautiful, textured yarn designed especially for weavers. Strong enough for warp, soft enough to wear next to skin, and hardy enough for kitchen towels. Truly a versatile yarn that we hope will become a beloved staple on your loom for many kinds of projects. Comes on ¼ lb. (4 oz) cones with 600 yards per cone.
55% linen / 45% cotton. 2,390 ypp. Suitable for warp and weft, on rigid heddle, table, and floor looms. Recommended sett of 12-16 epi. Machine wash on cool. Air dry or machine dry (air drying preserves the life of linen longer). Linen gets a softer and lovelier hand with each washing.
Spun and dyed in North Carolina.
Duet produces a textured fabric without it being too rustic. The cotton/linen weaves up fast without any of the problems linen sometimes creates. Makes a much more substantial fabric than cottonlin. Two cones + a little from a third, maybe in an accent color, are enough for two towels and a table mat. Machine washes beautifully; doesn’t require ironing. Only drawback? I want to purchase Duet in many more colors!
I'm thrilled with this Duet Cotton/Linen in "Storm" -- a medium gray, on my rigid heddle (10 dent) loom. Great tensile strength for warp and weft; soft for a fluid drape.
I’m only a beginner weaver w/ a rigid heddle loom, but I’ve fallen in love w/ Duet. I love its feel, ease of use & color selection. I’ve only woven towels, but want to try a simple top using it.
I have made the best towels with the Duet yarn. Color choice is great and the towels get softer with use and washing
I purchased this yarn in 3 colors, all beautiful! I used them to make the project Sarah had shared, the scarf with the skip dents. They all came out beautiful! I was able to make a few with each cone. Thank you!
