Waffle Weave Lap Blanket
A soft and cushy Waffle Weave lap blanket woven with cotton slub yarn. Order a kit.
First off, thank you Gist for this free pattern that I’ve so enjoyed weaving. There was some cotton yarn in my stash that had been waiting for the right project and this was it. I wanted to make a scarf so made it 8” wide. The yarn is variegated with bright colors and it worked out perfect with this pattern, with white across the front and yellow across the back. I’m almost half way done. Love it.
I was looking for quick inspiration to use a bit of my stash and this popped across my radar. the timing was perfect. my mom who has alzheimers was just getting out of a short stint in a nursing home after an injury and I wanted to make something for her. For me I like a bigger blanket even for a lap blanket/throw, but for my mom this is perfect. she is using a wheelchair now and this is a lovely, light but cozy blanket that wont get tangled in the wheels. Also great as a shawl on cooler summer evenings when she likes to sit on the patio. I used Beam in natural for the warp and Mallo in Clay for the weft. It worked wonderfully.
Thanks for inspiring me to make a quick, cozy, beautiful gift for my mom.
Love the yarn. Love the patterns I actually made it larger
cant wait to start this project!
This is was my first weaving project ever! I used to Mallo Cotton Slubs yarn as recommended. It was easy and fast. The result was really beautiful, soft and cozy. Loved the pattern! Loved the yarn!
