Duet combines the ease of weaving with cotton with the sheen and hand of linen. The subtle variegation in the linen adds a slightly marbled visual element to projects. Buttery and smooth on a multi-shaft loom, this yarn is also a wonderful introduction to linen for rigid heddle weavers who have a few projects under their belts. Duet weaves into beautiful summer scarves and shawls, as well as heirloom-quality towels and dining linens that soften and improve over time.
The first time I bought Duet I was a little skeptical because it costs a lot more than regular cottolin yarns. But it's not cottolin. The product description should say more about how it actually weaves up. Rather than cotton and linen fibers blended together and spun into a single yarn, it's a twist of a cotton yarn and a linen yarn. The resulting two ply yarn weaves up spectacularly. I make a lot of towels, and the reaction to my towels done with Duet has been over-the-top surprising. They're my biggest success so far.
