Beam is a foundational yarn—perfect for beginners learning to weave on a rigid heddle loom, but experienced weavers will also find it delightful for twills and color work on a multi-shaft loom. Beam’s bright, cheerful colors make it a natural choice for baby blankets, kitchen towels, placemats, napkins and runners. Soft but strong, this yarn was designed for making functional cloth you reach for every day.
I ordered the yarn for a project and when it came it was exactly the color I had hoped it would be and although I just started to set up the loom it is behaving exactly as expected.
i recently wove up a commissioned table runner (accent stripes) & a towel (warp) using Licorice. Beam washes & dries wonderfully & produces a nice, soft, drapey fabric. the loom i use is a 16" ashford rigid heddle & both of these were woven using a 12.5 heddle.
I’ve now used Beam in an 8-placemat set as a gift. And am about to make some coordinating dish towels. I like the texture and sturdiness of this yarn. An the blues all seem to be colorfast. Which I really appreciate after a bad recent experience with another yarn that wasn’t.
I really like Beam 3/2 for the bright colors, the weight is easy to handle, and it has a nice hand to work with. It makes threading go faster on the loom!
I’m still working up the courage to weave this beautiful yarn. Came well-packaged (but not overly) and on time.
