Bhakti Ziek is a well known artist, weaver, and teacher who currently lives and works in Vermont. She creates narrative weavings using Jacquard looms, and helped to establish the graduate program in textile design at the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. In this conversation we discuss how Bhakti initially learned to weave because she wanted to have a useful skill for living on a commune, her experiences learning backstrap weaving in Guatemala, how she ended up finding an artistic home with Jacquard weaving, and quite a bit more.
