Zig Zag Twill Scarf

Designed by Christine Tsai

This warm and cozy scarf is woven on a Rosepath (extended Point Twill) threading with two alternating stripes of color in the warp. Variations of 2/2 Twill and Plain Weave in the treadling create a striking elongated zigzag pattern and slightly longer warp floats, which enhance the softness of the alpaca yarn. Order a kit.

Beautiful Pattern

Beautiful pattern but requires 6 treadles. Wish I had known this before I purchased the pattern. My 40 year old, 4 shaft loom only has 4 treadles. I guess I should have inquired. I’m a new floor loom weaver and I’m finding out that more often than not, this information is omitted in the pattern listings.

BEAUTIFUL PATTERN UPDATE!
This is an edit to my first review. Gist Yarn responded quickly to my first review with how to treadle a 6 treadle pattern using only 4 treadles! (I'm new to multi-shaft weaving and there are no teachers in my area) So, in addition to a lovely pattern, I also received a weaving lesson! Now THAT is personal service!! Thank you!!!

Hello! This pattern can be woven with 4 treadles by tying up 1 shaft per treadles then stepping on 2 treadles simultaneously. Please see the email we sent you with the specific instructions. Enjoy!

Lovely and easy to weave

Enjoyed this project. I used colors that were similar in value (green/brown/gold) so the pattern was not as obvious. Next time I’ll use higher contrast yarn.

SO soft!

Just finished making this scarf for my bf. The yarn is SO soft. I follows the instructions to hang wash and dry flat but it just didn’t full like I felt it should. When almost dry I put it in the dryer with a big fluffy (dry) towel on low. In three minutes it was perfect! Can’t wait to gift this gift for his birthday this weekend!

My first attempt with Alpaca, and I am loving the pattern!!

I ordered this pattern along with the recommended Alpaca colors, and very pleased. The yarn was very easy to work with. The pattern instructions were clear. I had a few questions & they were answered quickly.

Perfection!

I made several scarves for Christmas- in Bamboo, Tencel, and Alpaca Silk. All wove wonderfully, and the drape is lovely. Perfect present!! This will be my to go to scarf draft! Thank you.
