Blooming Rose Scarf
Designed by Katie Strano
This airy scarf, with its soft drape, is based on a classic extended Rosepath threading. A crammed and spaced denting in the reed creates rounded medallions, where a more standard sett creates right-angled diamonds. A soft beat helps transform this classic threading structure into shapes reminiscent of closed and opening rosebuds. Order a kit.

The pattern is clearly written, and the finished product has wonderful drape even though I used Duet instead of the Sero. I did weave at 10 PPI, and I find that the finished scarf still has a lot of holes and the weft threads are not touching. It's not the end of the world, the feeling of the scarf is amazing, and I would weave it again, but would adjust the PPI.
Great pattern. The combination of alpaca and silk drapes well and feels luxurious. I wove it with Sero Peacock and Glacier in the warp, Ode Shadow in the weft. I did not find it possible to weave at 10ppi; the wefts wouldn’t make contact at that rate. Even at something more like 14, the fabric lets some light through where the warp is spaced, but on the whole it is solid and warm. It took me a minute to realize that the first and last threads on the sleying chart are the floating selvedges. Otherwise all clear and easy to weave. The friend I wove it for was thrilled!
It's beautiful, but haven't got to it yet.
