I just washed and dried my first-ever kitchen towel that I wove, and am really loving this yarn! In fact, it was so easy to warp and weave, I ordered a bunch more, and now after experiencing how beautifully it came out after washing and drying in the dryer, I am quite glad I did. I can definitely imagine a scarf made with it, as it softens surprisingly well.
8/2 Un-Mercerized Brassard Cotton Weaving Yarn ~ Raspberry
I ordered this particular yarn because of the color....and found a new favorite for my free form weaving ventures. The yarn is as smooth and strong as it looks.
I am a fairly new weaver. I bought the 8/2 cotton in black and natural to experiment with color-and-weave on my 15" Cricket. I made the Color-and-Weave Sampler from "The Weaver's Idea Book" (Jane Patrick), using it doubled in a 12-dent reed. It created a very nice fabric and I planned to make some light weight dish towels with it. But when my 25-year-old son saw the sampler, he asked for a houndstooth scarf. I tried to talk him into a lightweight wool or alpaca, but he wanted cotton. He was right, it made a beautiful, soft scarf with a nice crisp pattern. A lovely weight for spring/fall. I've given up the towel plan and have ordered more colors for more scarves!
This yarn is a beautiful color, it is also soft and lightweight! I did notice that towards the end, it was hard to keep the yarns tight and separated, so I ended up cutting my project about 6in shorter than I would have liked.
I was able to create a nice rolled hem on my project which was nice. It was nice to be able to wash and dry the fabric too!
