Deflected Reflections Scarf

Deflected Reflections Scarf

Designed by Carly Jayne

Deflected Reflections shows just how versatile two heddles can be on a rigid heddle loom. No pick-up sticks or string heddles required to achieve this beautiful motif. Array’s luscious gradients and Duet’s gratifying texture make this scarf both fun to weave and to wear! Order a kit.

Please note: This is not a beginner project. If you have never woven with two heddles before, we suggest starting with the Doublewidth Shawl or the Twofold collection to learn the basics of threading and weaving Doubleweave.

Love the pattern, I’ve just started to work out the threading pattern but the instructions are very well written. Just wish I could find suppliers for the yarns in uk.

Waste of time

I just spent 3 hours trying to direct warp my flip loom for this project. I am very familiar with Array, as I use it for tapestry weaving. I am also familiar with duet, which I have used in other scarves. I can see why the Array must be doubled - it keeps breaking as I am tying it onto the back beam. The double sets of Array in the same slot get easily tangled when trying to wind onto the back beam. The Duet stretches more and so it is hard to get even tension when winding. I am not sure I will continue with this project as I am not sure that the Array will hold up to this kind of weaving. Very frustrating.

Hi Jane,

We're very sorry to hear that this was not a great experience for you. I'm glad we were able to chat by phone and get you directed to a more suitable project for your first Doubleweave pattern.

The Array is doubled to be more consistent in size with the Duet. We've woven with Array as warp on both rigid heddle and shaft looms and it's been quite sturdy. It's possible the tension difference contributed to the breakage, or you could have gotten a bad tube. If it happens again, please let us know.
