To Weave is a comprehensive guide to every aspect of weaving from start to finish.

From design concept to choice of materials, draft and tie-up to completed weave, understand the ins and outs of modern handweaving, guided by experts in the craft. Arianna Funk and Miriam Parkman are professional weavers, textile artists, and teachers, and with the help of sketching prompts to spark creativity and sample weaving drafts, they explore the process of developing a weave from beginning to end―whether you want a sturdy, utilitarian textile or a decorative hanging for the wall, or anything in between―and give all weavers the tools and the confidence to weave their way.

  • 16 different sample projects, featuring techniques including knotted rya, waffle weave, and more
  • Examples from each of the authors, showing how the same basic pattern guidelines might turn out when worked by different weavers
  • Plus tips, tricks, analysis of the process of designing a weave, explanations for dyeing your own yarn, and so much more!

    Beautiful!!

Such a gorgeous book and very detailed. For a relatively beginner weaver, there’s plenty to be inspired and to learn from!

    Great book for new weavers

This is a beautiful book and very easy to read and understand with recipes for quite a lot of different projects. I have been teaching for over 50 years so I bought this book to lend to my beginner students.
Ofcourse I love it because it has such a Swedish look to the projects. I am from Finland. I lived in New Mexico for 8 years reasently so loved the Georgia O'Keefe inspirations too.
I have used Gist Yarns and love using them❣️

    To weave

I have enjoyed weaving many of Arianna’s Gist patterns and LADA. I’m enjoying the book and currently have the waffle weave wash cloths on my loom (though using a different yarn).
