I really enjoyed creating these towels. The cotton fiber was easy to work with. It help my confidence a great deal. The warping instructions were so easy to follow.
This was one of my first purchases I have ordered more yarn since. I am very pleased with the survive I received and quality of yarn. I haven’t started weaving the towels yet my bigger loom is in Canada but can’t wait to get started. Thank You
Just finished the towels tonight - and they turned out very well! Learned a lot. First time using a warping board for the 5 yard warp (made it into 3 chains upon the advice of Emma from GIST. Emma also sent me the link to a video on how to use a warping board, which was really helpful). Learned about the "personality" of the yarn as I worked with it. Liked working with this yarn and love the colors! The pattern is well done. Decided to use Sarah's suggestion of weaving the weft in "random" color order, using up color left on each shuttle. So each towel is unique, yet they fit as a set. Really enjoyed weaving them that way. After washing & drying the fabric, I did a zigzag stitch on all the raw edges, then turned the edges over twice and stitched the hems, encasing the raw edges. (I cheated & used my sewing machine rather than hemming by hand). I enjoy the creativity and design sense of the kits that GIST staff put together. Thank you.
Before making these towels, I had only completed a few projects on my rigid heddle loom - and I had never woven this type of yarn. The instructions were very helpful and the yarn is wonderful! I was able to complete the project on my own! I look forward to buying more from GIST.
I am a very new weaver. The yarn delivered is very nice. I have almost finished my first towel. I have a very old Beka loom from taking lessons about 40 years ago.
