Alpaca Weaving Yarn ~ Marigold
$ 92.00 USD
A glorious weaving yarn the color of farmers market egg yolks, a fistful of marigolds, the sun rising on a Saturday morning.
A cone of this weaving yarn is exactly what you're looking for when you're looking for alpaca: super soft, cushy, and warm. I source this yarn directly from Arequipa, Peru, where it is made in a mill that has been creating high-quality alpaca yarn for over 90 years.
3/10 sportweight, 2.2 lb cone with approximately 3,800 yards, 20 wpi, recommended sett of 10-16 epi
Please note that this yarn is no longer available on 1/2lb cones. Larger cones are less expensive per pound so offer you more value!
Wonderful alpaca to work with. Used for both warp and weft. It does get sticky when worked, but just advance the work area often and have a hair pick ready. Makes a beautiful finished product.
This yarn is beautiful and easy to work with and for a kilo of yarn it is well priced too. Used this for warp and weft for a poncho and was quite pleased with the results! I did have to unweave a few rows to correct and error and true to form alpaca does tend to stick to itself, but I had no issues with the warp or weaving with it, just can’t watch TV while weaving! I would highly recommend this yarn, it creates a lighter weight garment that is very warm and has beautiful drape.
this color is so warm & vibrant! such a depth of color. this time, i used the yarn for warp on a scarf. for the weft, i used an mill spun, over dyed wool from Iowa. the fibers worked together very well, with their colors blending into a gorgeous finished scarf. thanks GIST for once again providing just the right fiber & color i needed!
I have bought this alpaca yarn in turquoise denim and cloud now. It is beautiful yarn so soft. I am a beginner weaver and really enjoying working with such a special yarn and Gist have been so helpful advising me and answering any beginner questions I have. Thank you Gist yarn!
So much to weave a beautiful blanket
