Weaver's PlayBox # 1 ~ Wool

The Weaver's PlayBox is a collaboration with Liz Gipson of Yarnworker: a box filled with yarn, project inspiration, and helpful tips created especially for beginner and intermediate rigid heddle weavers.

Our first box is all about sharing our passion for wool yarn in its many forms.

Weaver's PlayBox includes:

  • 5 skeins of yarn from 3 of our favorite American wool mills: Cestari Sheep & Wool Company, Mountain Meadow Wool, and Brown Sheep Company.
  • Liz Gipson's beautifully designed 10-page PDF guide packed with project information and techniques that teach you how to make 10 different scarves (see a few of these example scarves in the photos). Your box includes enough yarn to choose and make 2-3 of these scarves
  • You will need a rigid heddle loom with at least a 10" weaving width, and a 7.5 or 8 dent heddle, to complete these projects.

Weaver’s Playbox Yarn

Beautiful colored wool. Softer than what I expected. Haven’t used it yet but can’t wait to start. Delivery was quick and can’t wait to buy more ‘yarn’ from Gist!

Great quality, wonderful colors

Prompt shipping, love the colors and feel of the yarn. Can't wait to use them.

I'm a relatively new weaver - just over a year. And Gist Yarn was definitely one of my best discoveries. I love, love, LOVE all of the yarns I've bought and this playbox is no exception. The colors and textures are gorgeous and I can hardly wait to finish my current projects so I can start working with these yarns.

Such wonderful wool!

This was a great box of yarn! I wove several scarves with Liz’s patterns and had a wonderful time. Gist is a perfect merchant to work with. They ship when they say they are going to and customer service is fantastic. I have had questions about the two boxes and always get a quick and helpful response. Thanks, Gist crew!

Weaver's Playbox #1

I ordered Weaver's Playbox #1, and the wool yarns that Sarah Resnick and Liz Gibson chose were simply amazing: soft and luxurious, and so beautiful to weave with. I was so sorry when I finished weaving with them. I learned so much from about using different types and weights of wool, putting colors and patterns together. The collaboration of such two generous, talented weavers and artists is an opportunity not to be missed. (I then had to have Weaver's Playbox #2, on weaving with cottons and linens. That was just as special, and I feel my understanding of different fibers is now much more solid.)
