At first I had a bit of a bit of a learning curve warping the cotton and linen slub, but one that is well worth the effort. Christine suggested a few tricks and VOILA! A beautiful heirloom for my son and his soon to be wife. Thank you GIST & Christine! P
This is a very lovely yarn but I'm finding it a little trying to work with. The cotton slub of the ply continues to pull away from the linen if gets rubbed too much from the reed or while hemstitching. I've had several areas where the linen doesn't break but the cotton has sloughed off. I've had to re-thread more than once in the middle of project. Frustrating.. Not sure I'll buy this again...
I used this yarn on my Schact Rigid Heddle Loom, with a 10 dent and a 12 dent reed, and on both the warp and weft. It has great tensile strength, depth of color, and fluid drape. The photo shows my scarf, using 12 dent 15" Rigid Heddle loom.
Making a curtain panel with this cotton/linen blend, and it is a joy to work with. Very stable, no stretching, no knots, no fraying. It seems like it would be very durable as well, but that will, of course, remain to be seen. Looking forward to using on towels also!
I really like this yarn and the speed with which I received it. Gistyarn is excellent in that respect. However, the cone of yarn I received was much more gray and less the hint of teal that was depicted online. No worries, though! I know it will find a place in some project in the future.
