Chevron Hand Towels
Cheerful cotton and linen towels woven with a subtle chevron pattern. Order a kit.
I grabbed this pattern for my first set of dish towels as an intermediate table loom weaver. I had never worked with Brassard 8/2 before and it took FOREVER (12+ hours) to thread the heddles and sley the reed with 409 ends. I used a 12-dent reed at 24 epi sett. I did the first two towels per the pattern, but when I got to towel 3, I noted the 'rosepath' description and wove the double warp threads in a full rosepath twill. The pattern was a bit concealed, so towel 4 was made with only a single warp thread in alternating 3" color blocks. The pattern popped right out and looks gorgeous. Then I had enough left at the end to pull through and tie off for another warp to be knotted on and pulled back through. I'm excited to have another go at the rosepath twill in different colors. A highly recommended pattern for experimentation. Thanks!
Have 3 looms full and have not woven the lovely patterns I got from you. Catching up on workshops and need to weave off the rest of warps.
These hand towels wove up quick and easy and turned out lovely! I’m going to weave more for gifts!
Thank you Gist for beautiful yarn and a free pattern. I write this review after starting the warp this evening. I am looking forward to a simple interesting weave of the hand towels. I love the feel of the Italian cottolin. I have woven a bit with the cotton linen Italian yarn… the Spring scarf, a light top, and as warp for cottolin tea towels. I think the double weft with two colours will be just the extra challenge to keep the effort interesting. The pattern is written with just enough detail. the photo was exactly what I needed to grasp the “double weft”. Thanks. Thanks.
GIST is my new favorite place to shop; the yarn is amazingly beautiful, and their customer service earns my trust repeatedly!
