New weaver, and new to using linen yarn. This yarn was easy to work with - very few slubs that needed to be cut out. Only time I had a thread break was due to prolonged abrasion from a heddle (oops!). Beautiful colors too! I purchased sea glass, arctic, and fog. I would certainly buy this again!
Love this yarn. Weaves up beautifully!
Fun to weave with. Super easy pattern. I’ve done one in grey and one in pear. Love them!
I am new to weaving and wanted to try a pattern weave with my rigid heddle loom. This pattern allowed me to try weaving using pick up sticks. The pattern was easy to follow and it came out looking awesome! This is a great pattern to try to expand your skill set.
This cotton is wonderful! It’s strong enough for a warp and it makes lovely, soft and lofty towels. The nubby texture is a bonus and gives your fabric a very high-end look and feel.

I haven't made this yet but it's on my list!
I purchased this yarn in 3 colors, all beautiful! I used them to make the project Sarah had shared, the scarf with the skip dents. They all came out beautiful! I was able to make a few with each cone. Thank you!
I actually just finished weaving these beautiful towels. I am a beginner weaver and found the pattern easy to follow and a joy to weave.
I have been using malo yarn making some towels. I like the way the slubs give a natural texture to the towels even when doing a tabby weave. Also what’s important to me is that this yarn is grown, milled, and dyed in the United States.
We need to be mindful of this if we want manufacturing to come back to our country.
A super simple weave made special by the texture of the yarn. I had a bit of trouble with the off white . It may have been user error but the texture slid like a stocking down the center fiber in a few places making it impossible to move through the heddle to beat it. I found a solution that worked perfectly. I manipulated the texture back into place and rubbed a small amount of white school glue on it to secure it. It dried quickly and I could proceed. Being school glue it washed out when I finish washed the scarf and I couldn’t find those places when the scarf dried. I didn’t have this problem with the same yarn in the Brick color. I love this yarn even with that little bit of trouble. I will order the other colors!
Soft and slightly slubby but not thick. As for the color green: I find the on-line picture of the green ("Fir") is "brighter" and has more yellow to it than the real yarn which is a deeper, "bluer" green and, actually, what I prefer. I suggest getting the Mallo swatch color card if you have an absolute specific shade in mind.
Beautiful color. Quick delivery.
Beautiful color. Timely preorder shipment
I loved this kit. The colors were exactly what I expected and a pleasure to work with. It would have been better if the instructions stated the length to weave each towel for a 30 inch towel, including shrinkage.

I love, love, love this yarn. I have made tea towels and am making a summer top. The slub is just right and the yarn fulls perfectly. The towels are ‘oh so absorbent’.
I've never had a problem ordering here and the yarn is superb!
I've used this yarn for a while now - love that it is on cones now, hooray! Works wonderfully as both warp and weft. Wove a run of huck lace towels with it and they are wonderfully thirsty and get softer each time I wash them.
Love the rich colors and feel of this yarn. Makes me energetic while weaving.
Although I did not use these yarns to make a pillow, the towels I made with them turned out really nicely. The subtle colors blended together wonderfully! As always, everything from GIST is really top quality!
I have not used this yarn in a project yet, but love the colors and quality of it!
So, I’m relatively new to weaving. When I first started I thought any old yarn would do. Well I was so wrong. I learned quickly that In this case quality matters. I am always so satisfied with my yarn purchases from Gist. I would love to weave until I’m a ripe old age and I hope Gist is around to supply my yarn..
My experience purchasing a selection of Mallo Cotton Slub Weaving Yarn was wonderful overall. The quality of the yarn is excellent and the service was first-rate. I will absolutely purchase from GIST again and again.
Hi there, I loved the mallo yarn... I made 2 baby blankets...I used the natural for the warp and the clay as the weft... 16 epi...I hand washed them in cool water and towel dried them, finishing them in the dryer... they came to life, soft and beautiful. I would like to try this yarn with a different project something lighter changing the epi.
This soft, texture yarn is wonderful, very easy to work with, and versatile. I have used it for shawls, baby blankets, and dish towels.
I have never been disappointed in the quality of the yarn/thread I buy from Gist Yarns. It’s lovely to work with and the company has the best customer service. I would recommend them and it to everyone.
Have purchased this yarn several times and in various colors and have never been disappointed. Nice to weave with and great to wear!
Love this yarn. Wonderful to work with.
Wove the textured scarf pattern with several of the Mallo yarns (Denim was one) on my rigid heddle. Ended up morphing it into a V Shawl (after cutting and stitching). It’s so beautiful that I warped up a second scarf (slightly wider) on my rigid heddle. Highly recommend the yarns.
This is a wonderful slubby cotton yarn for everything!
I love the soft, stubby texture of the Mallo yarn. It is lovely to weave with, both warp & weft. It also washes beautifully and gives a nice texture to anything one weaves.
I bought this yarn in 3 colors. It is very pretty.
Mallo is such a soft and interesting yarn! Dishtowels are thick and absorbent and such an easy weave! I’m experimenting right now with Strickler #360 and Mallo in both the warp and weft. It’s dreamy yarn!
I really love this yarn, It adds such a nice texture to my towels. My towels are soft and durable.
This is a great yarn and I try to keep it available for many projects. One of the things I like best is the slub in the yarn which helps to add some texture to pieces. I also appreciate the fact that it is cotton and USA made.
